Coverage Tips
Standard homeowners policies exclude flooding. If your home is in or near a flood zone, you need a separate NFIP or private flood policy. Many Georgia homeowners don’t find this out until a claim is denied.
Georgia requires 25/50/25 minimum auto liability. A serious accident can easily exceed these limits — and you’re personally liable for the rest. Most advisors recommend 100/300/100 at minimum.
New home, new car, marriage, new baby, or a new business all change your risk profile. Coverage that was right 2 years ago may leave gaps today — or be costing you more than it should.
Added a pool, finished basement, or home office? Your dwelling coverage limit may need to increase to match your home’s new replacement cost. An unreported addition could mean a partial payout on a claim.
If you run a business from home, your homeowners policy typically excludes business equipment, inventory, and liability. A separate in-home business policy or BOP rider is usually required.
Insurance carriers adjust rates and eligibility criteria constantly. Loyal customers often pay a “loyalty penalty.” As an independent advisor, I re-shop your coverage every renewal if it makes sense.
